A Beginner's Guide to Dating

Have you ever realized how much easier it is to give good relationship advice when you're not the one in the relationship? And have you ever realized how difficult it is to think clearly and give yourself good advice when you're so emotionally charged by the situation?

If you are like me and often find yourself confused about what to do while dating or in a relationship, this is the best advice I've given to all my daters:

Do what makes you happy.

You will never regret doing what makes you happy.

Before any decisions or actions, ask yourself if whatever it is you are doing is truly making you happy. Or are you simply staying in a relationship because it's comfortable and you're afraid of what else is out there?

Maybe you're dating a new person and you're unsure of whether or not to continue seeing him or her? If it makes you happy to keep seeing them, then do it. You will never know if you just sit and ponder and never actually go for anything.

In the most cliche of words, it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

The second that the bad starts to outweigh the good, then I would urge you to reconsider your decisions. Until then, continue to follow your heart. If you strike out, at least you will have learned something new. If it works out, then even better!

But at the end of it, no matter how scary it may seem to put yourself out there, it will be worth it no matter what. And yes, even if it ends in heartbreak because that means you'll just be even smarter and better the next time around.

I know it's easy to over think things and get distracted by all the input friends and family give you, but seriously, just ask yourself the simple question of: Will doing this make me happy? And from there you'll know what to do next.
